The price
How much does a sound bath cost, and what do you get?
A sound bath with me costs £25 for one hour. That is the ticket price. You lie down for sixty minutes while I play white crystal singing bowls, live hand-played Tibetan bowls, tingsha and chimes, with some guided settling and breathwork. You bring your own yoga mat.
How much does a sound bath cost with me?
£25 for one hour. That is the price for this hour. Sessions are for people aged 16 and over. It covers the whole hour, the Tibetan bowls played live by hand, the guided settling and breathwork, and the time to rest and integrate at the end.
I am not going to quote other people's prices here. What I can tell you is what mine buys: the room, the bowls played live by hand, the guided settling and the breathwork, and the quiet time at the end before anybody stands up.
There is one price and one length of session. No second tier, no shorter version and no longer version, so there is nothing to weigh up before you book beyond whether the hour itself appeals to you.
Age 16 and over is the only condition on who can book. You do not need to have been to a sound bath before, and you do not need to be able to meditate, sit cross-legged or hold a position, because you spend the whole hour lying down.
What does the sixty minutes actually include?
White crystal singing bowls and Tibetan bowls played live by hand, with guided settling and breathwork around them, and time at the end to rest and integrate. The £25 covers all sixty minutes of it, from settling down on the floor to getting back up.
The white crystal bowls hold a clear, sustained tone you feel as much as hear. The Tibetan bowls are played live by hand. Tingsha, chimes and the other complementary instruments are small sounds that mark the edges of the hour.
Candle ambience is part of the hour. An eye mask is optional on the bring list.
The guided settling and the breathwork are there to get you from arriving to lying still, and the time at the end is there so you are not sat up and turned out the moment the last bowl stops. For the feel of the hour instead of a list of what is in it, I have written up what the hour actually feels like.
Does the price include a mat, or parking?
Parking at the venue is free, and that is on my own listing for the session. You bring your own yoga mat. You are on the floor for the full sixty minutes, so sort a mat out before you come. The listing asks for a few other things as well.
The mat is the one people forget. An hour is a long time on a hard floor, and a yoga mat is the usual answer. It does not need to be anything special. Mats are not provided, which is why it is the first thing on my own listing.
A blanket or warm layers are on the list too. A cushion is for under your head or your knees. A bottle of water is on the list as well. An eye mask is on there too, marked optional, and candle ambience is part of the hour.
So the short answer on what the price does not cover is the kit and the journey. The mat, the blanket or warm layers, the cushion, the water and the optional eye mask are the five things on my bring list, and they are yours to bring. Getting yourself to Ramsgate is yours as well, and once you are there the parking at the venue is free.
If something about the price or the hour would stop you booking, send me a message first. I would rather answer the question than take £25 off someone who was never going to enjoy the hour.
What is included in the hour, and what is added on top?
One hour, one price. Here is what is in it: white crystal singing bowls, live hand-played Tibetan bowls, tingsha, chimes and complementary instruments, guided settling and breathwork, candle ambience, and time at the end to rest and integrate. That list is what I set out for the hour. If something is not on that list, ask me.
Nothing is added on top of that hour and nothing is sold to you inside it. There is no second tier of ticket to choose between and no extra to pay once you are in the room. One hour, one price, and what I have listed above is what the hour is made of.
I will not tell you what anybody else puts in their hour, because I have not sat in it. What I can tell you is exactly what is in mine, which is the list above, so you know what you are buying before you pay for it.
If that list is the part that worries you, I have set out separately whether a sound bath is a religious ceremony.
Has a session sold out before?
Once. The earlier hour I ran, at The Garden Hall in Carshalton, sold out. It is the only one I have had, and it did not run here in Ramsgate. I have listed two sessions in total: the one in Carshalton and the one here.
I would rather you booked because the price and the hour suit you.
This is already on my own listing: "Spaces are intentionally limited to maintain a calm, intimate environment." I keep the numbers down on purpose.
I have not published how many places there are.
Who can book at this price, and when do I need to arrive?
The price is £25 and doors open ten minutes before the start. Sessions are for ages 16 and over. A sound bath is not suitable during the first trimester of pregnancy. Please get in touch before booking if you have sound sensitivity, epilepsy, or a health condition that may be affected by sound.
There is no late entry once the session has begun, so leave yourself time to park, come in and settle on the floor.
I put it on the listing like this: "Doors close at start time to preserve the atmosphere." An hour like this only works if it starts in a settled room.
Once the room is dark and everybody has settled, one person coming through the door is the thing that pulls the whole room back out of the hour, which is why the door shuts at the start.
Booking happens on the ticket listing rather than here, and the link to it sits at the bottom of every page on this site. Places are limited on purpose, so the listing is where you will see whether an hour still has room in it.
I have not published anything about what happens if you book and then cannot come, so if that matters to you, ask me before you pay rather than after. That goes for anything else about the £25 as well: I would rather answer it in advance.
What kind of room does the price get me?
A room at The Falstaff Hotel, Kitchen and Bar, on Addington Street in Ramsgate, candlelit, with the door shut from the start. The venue's own site describes the building as "a welcoming boutique hotel, deli counter, restaurant and bar open to all". The car parking is at the rear of the building. The Royal Harbour and the beaches are close by.
The space is warm, soft and grounding, and that is what the hour is built around.
It is a working hotel rather than a studio, and its own description says the deli counter, the restaurant and the bar are open to all. The room I use is inside it, with the door shut for the hour.
The £25 pays for the hour in that room.
Ready when you are
The price and the room are both on the sound baths page. I will tell you when a new date is listed if you write to me.
If you want a private session, or something for the people you work with, write to me and I will let you know what it would involve. I do not publish a price for those.
